China is now a second biggest economy in the world. In the last decade the Middle Kingdom’s international
presence was very intensive. In 2013, President of China, Xi Jinping, announced new Chinese global initiative called One
Belt and Road (New Silk Road). It is an opportunity for China for further development, expanding its sphere of influence
and strengthening its position in the international arena. The article presents issues concerning cooperation between the PRC
and the countries of the African continent as well as the PRC and the Middle East. The article deals with the topic of Chinese
energy security related to the import of crude oil to this country. The topic of the New Silk Road was presented, which aims
to strengthen economic cooperation between countries on its route. The Chinese concept is based on two types of transport:
sea and rail. It is a long-term and relatively new project, which is why it is constantly evolving and its scale is growing.
This initiative may lead to a change in contemporary international economic order. China is the biggest importer of crude oil.
The markets exporting oil to China such as Saudi Arabia, Iran and Angola are planned to be part of the New Silk Road.
The Beijing’s new tool of diplomacy can serve as a prominent engine to maintain China’s energy security in importing this
