The aim of the article is to define the basic parameters of the phase change material – erythritol, which is the phase transition temperature (melting point), latent heat, the temperature at which melting begins (onset temperature) and ends (offset temperature) during cyclic heating/cooling. Additionally, the thermal stability of erythritol has been examined. It allowed for qualification of erythritol to use in heat storage utilizing solid-liquid phase transition as the phenomenon by which heat is accumulated. It was found that erythritol is not useful for heat storage. It is decomposed after several cycles of charging and discharging of heat losing its property of heat storage.
